Since I've gone brawny to scrawny, I'd write a book if only I were a Wordsmith ala the Shenster

Shen allows anything here so put your post back up. He doesn't discriminate against lifting weights.

I have been doing bodyweight the past couple of years but since I still have my weights, I bought a book that combines many bodyweight exercises along with
some weights. The book is aimed at the scrawny hardgainer, it has some good ideas and eating plans. The whole milk diet kinda made me chubby and now that
I'm chizzled I want to keen being lean but gain muscular size. The has stuff like the pencil test and the sit up test, lets you know what foundation work
needs to be done. It has a lot of stretches that are different from what I have and is more modern than what old mail order type courses would have you do.

Weights and bodyweight exercises is an awesome combo. Standing barbell exercises are king.

Is it barbell or dumbell traing or a mix (combined with bodyweight). What does the book have you do for legs?

With apologies to Pierini & John Peterson, I nominate the rowing squat as Exercise KIng. Use some Sierra fitness gizmos as a suspension device to perform a squat/row combo 'til ya puke.

Henry, what is the title of the book? I do bodyweight assist (Total Trainer), isometrics, weights & expanders. I'm considering adding "dynamic
isometrics" (I think I made that up) which is holding a heavier weight and resisting gravity as it takes me very slowly through the whole range of motion.

I spotted this book browsing Amazon, then looked for the website, convinced I ordered the book and it came the next day. It's a very interesting book and
lots to read and loads of photos of many exercises, including bodyweight. there's a lot of nutritional info as well with detailed eating plans and
supplement recommendations, including such stuff as fish oil caps and apple cider vinegar. I like this book some solid ideas for me to follow. I started with
some postural assessments, then a section on stretching to correct any mobility problems. It's format is much like a Bronzebow book, lays flat when
opened, 250 pages and only $12.89 from Amazon.com.
It's exercises generally use gym equipment but you can improvise for home, like I don't have them cable stations but DB's can be a good sub or a
chest expander in some cases.

RUBBERBUS wrote:Well it doesnt mean anything at all. Dynamic = Of or relating to energy or to objects in motion. Isometrics = muscle-building exercises involving muscular contractions against resistance without movement. Its like saying "up a bit lower" Leave the silly catch phrases to those twats at the Transformetrics board eh? |

Bruv, how about "Very Slow Motion Negative Only Resistance Against Gravity Through The Full Range Of Motion"? Or "VSMNORAGTTFROM" for
short? Kinda has a nice ring to it doesn't it?

I was thinking that folks may get the idea I was pushing weight training as better than other who methods, but really its about getting ideas about maybe blending the two into my own way. The book may go onto heavy lifting and gluttony but that doesn't mean I will, I'm looking for ideas on muscle building for the skinny guy. I don't want to get into gluttony as a means to getting some size, but the book has some good eating ideas.
